Allgemeine Informationen
ACF was established by the Amicorp Group to give back to the world via CSR in a structured and accountable way. ACF has two goals, 1. eradicating poverty, with a focus on inspiring and empowering people to reach their full potential, especially youth by delivering education and skills training, and 2. raising environmental consciousness.
Employees of the Amicorp Group participate in CSR initiatives in local communities where we are present. We have global projects; in Asia, our focus project is currently in Indonesia. Our foundation has been working to uplift a marginalised community in the north coast of Bali, many of whom earn less than $2 a day and feed families of 4, often more. We also have day care centre in Central America where kids from the poorest neighborhoods attend without charge and a CO2 offset project in South America – this year, we are planting 60,000 trees on land we have acquired in Chile to offset CO2 emissions incurred by Amicorp Group’s employees from flying for business. We receive funding from 1. Amicorp Group that funds part of our projects and covers ALL our overheads. 2. Amicorp's employees, and 3. clients, partners and the public. Every dollar received from non-Amicorp donors / impact investors goes straight towards our projects, not to our overheads, management or indirect costs.
ABOUT OUR BALI PROJECTS: IMPACT MEASURE TO DATE -
In 2012, ACF started a sanitation project to provide the poorest of poor households in this community with kamar mandis (outhouses with water container and pit latrine). This is to combat open defecation there, which is a serious issue there, as many people cannot afford to build toilets. Many in these parts earn less than USD2 a day and feed families of 4, often more. By the end of 2015, ACF delivered 725 kamar mandis (1 unit per household). We have invested nearly $500,000 into this project, and consider this money well used. The past three years efforts are captured in ACF’s annual reports 2013, 2014 and 2015 with audited financials. Additionally, a book is in progress to share our journey and to encourage others to make a difference.
We brought dignity (which we believe is the bare essential of all economic empowerment endeavours), knowledge, better health, hygiene and safety to more than 2900 very poor people. That is more than one third of this 8,000-people community whose lives we have directly touched. In this process, we have created employment for 40 contractors who may otherwise have left Desa Les to seek employment elsewhere, seldom to return to the community and family, and sometimes into the underworld sphere of drugs and crime. Together with the PUSKESMAS, we continue to provide beneficiaries education on total sanitation based on the international CLTS programme, and we hope eventually that more beneficiaries can deliver training to others in the community.
It’s difficult to express the happiness of experiencing the gratitude of people whose lives we have touched, from the heads of the community down to the last beneficiary.
ABOUT OUR BALI PROJECTS: DEEPENING OUR IMPACT -
Now, we are starting another project in this area, a hospitality skills training centre to give this poorest community the opportunity to build a better and brighter future for themselves. In 2014 we set up a social enterprise as the first step towards this training centre. We are one of the few if not the only entity in these parts that have not resorted to paying "unofficial administration fees” by land officials in order to procure our land. Our success has brought new values for the community who are starting to recognize that goals can be achieved by taking different, more sustainable routes.
SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIPS -
We are now urgently raising funds to build the centre, and we are offering a dollar-for-dollar donation matching incentive up to USD400,000.
Eventually, the centre will be revenue generating, and hence financially self-sustainable. It will deliver quality hospitality training and inculcate values that will lift many marginalised people in northern Bali out of hunger and poverty by skills building.
Our work is ongoing and does not end with the building of the center. We invite you to reach out to us to ask about our sustainable international volunteer programs where corporate and individual donors, and impact investors alike can mentor, and impart invaluable skills and expertise to our students on an ongoing basis through a combined program of both on site presence as well as virtual engagement.
Together, we can create opportunities for marginalized people to progress economically and work towards eradicating poverty. Request a proposal today from Sue Meng CHAN, s.chan@amicorp.com
